Your Comments Needed

The two open forums held this week provided an opportunity to gather reaction to the draft University Environmental Scan report.  Thank you to those who participated.  The University Environmental Scan Team wants to make sure that it gathers any additional feedback before beginning work on revisions to the draft report.  If you have comments, please respond to this post by 4:00 PM on November 3.

  1. It seems to me that the scan strays into looking for solutions along with identifying trends. In particular, I get a strong sense that the report envisions some form of distance education in response to demographic trends. I think that is dangerous to the extent that it prevents us from looking at other options, e.g. attracting students from a wider geographic area with the promise of a residential, transformative experience. I don’t know which approach is ultimately feasible, or if a blended approach or something entirely different emerges. The Scan, however, should not inadvertently steer the reader in a predetermined direction.
